While we broke the news of an Air France pilot’s union Airbus boycott ahead of other major media, including The Times of London, we credit the latter with specifying that only 10 percent of Air France’s crew belong to the union in question.
However, 10 percent is a weighty figure where minority stakes are concerned.
The union, Alter, is calling for crew to refuse flights on all A330 and A340 aircraft with as yet unmodified Pitot tubes.
The larger and much more important question that as yet has no iron-clad answer is whether, in the wake of the AF447 disaster, any Airbus equipment at all is safe to fly.
Certainly, it would appear to be demonstrably less safe than previously thought.
